A Tribute

First impressions.

"What will she think of me?"
"Will I really have to live with her for three months or more?"
"How is it possible for six girls to live together comfortably in one tiny apartment?"
"I hope she doesn't snore."
"Oh, great.  She's one of those girls."

Each semester seems to bring a surprise with every new roommate.   A girls happiness can, sometimes, be measured by her roommates.

Will they laugh together?  Share stories?  Bond?

January 7, 2009

I was so excited to see what the Winter Semester of 2009 would bring.  It had to be better than the semester before.  I was prepared.  I checked in on time.  I moved my things in before anyone else.  I had sufficiently stalked my roommates on facebook.  I was ready for the semester to start.  Or so I thought.

Really, I just wanted a fun semester.  I wanted to feel at home and enjoy life.  I was ready for that.

I wasn't ready for what that semester would bring to my life.

Jami Peets

When you laugh my heart smiles.  I'll never know where your energy and passion for life comes from.  You are one determined girl.

I'll miss our late night conversations.  You are such a great friend to me and now that you're leaving who will laugh at my stupid jokes?

What I wasn't prepared for when I moved into Cloud Nine, were the friendships I would make.  Each member of Cloud Nine is unique.  We are sisters.

I am so grateful that I have the opportunity to continue to live in Cloud Nine, but I will miss those who are leaving.

To the New Members of Cloud Nine

I am excited to share this semester of my life with you, just know that you have great shoes to fill.  You will add something unique and wonderful to Cloud Nine as well, and I can't wait to see your contribution.

To the Original Members of Cloud Nine

You are all wonderful.  Each of you, whether you still live in Cloud Nine or not, will always be a member of Cloud Nine.  Also, you will always have a place in my heart.  You have each changed my life for the better.

Conclusion

I had no idea when I moved into Cloud Nine that I would love each of my roommates as my own family.  I thought I was prepared for this semester, but I wasn't prepared for this.  Thank you.

This is your tribute.
